Bruise and Pain- It's NOT lymphatic drainage

Hello friends,
A patient recently came for a manual lymphatic drainage treatment with me after seeing another therapist before.
They had the goal of supporting inflammation in their body due to a chronic health condition.
They were implementing an anti-inflammatory diet and other measures to support their wellbeing, so really doing their best.
The so-called lymphatic drainage massage they had before they came to see me had left them "sore for days" and with bruising.
They thought that was how it was meant to be.
My friends! listen up!
Manual lymphatic drainage should be so gentle, should cause no pain, should drag the skin to activate the delicate lymphangions and not squash them.
It most certainly should not leave you bruised or sore.
Bruising= inflammatory load
Soreness= (usually) inflammation
If you truly want to support your health, lymphatic system, fluid balance, and immune system, you need a properly trained therapist (hello!) performing research-backed, evidence-based techniques.
Ps I am so sorry but manual lymphatic drainage will not cause you to lose weight, despite what some poor social media marketing might suggest.
Okay love you, and I hope you got the message- because it's super important!
