Pretty much everyone has heard of lactic acid, but do you actually know what it is?

Lactic acid is not what makes your muscles sore.

In fact, lactic acid levels return to baseline around 30-60 minutes after you complete intense exercise.

Lactic acid is actually a fuel source your body creates and uses when oxygen is not readily available for intense exercises.

It is not a waste product, doesn't get stuck in your muscles, and isn';t the cause of muscle soreness after exercise.

The sensations of pain or tension after exercise are caused by several  things other than lactic acid.

Want me to outline some of the causes of that post exercise soreness in another blog post? Let me know by emailing marina@marinasremedial.com.au
