What is Jing Jin

1 min read

As you all probably know, this year (2026) I am enhancing my skills and education by studying an advanced diploma in Myotherapy.

In the last few weeks at Myotherapy class, we have been not only learning muscle testing techniques and soft tissue complaint treatment protocols, but also how to incorporate Jing Jin.

What is Jing Jin?

Jing Jin is a Traditional Chinese Medicine concept about the meridians that are for the networks of muscles, tendons and ligaments.

In TCM, as you'll know if you've ever received an acupuncture treatment, there are meridians for organs like the lung, small intestine, pericardium, bladder and so on, but these "sinew channels" are for soft tissue function specifically.

In myotherapy, the acupuncture points adn meridians associated with Jing Jin correspond to Western identified fascial lines and trigger points.

An understanding of the interrelation between eastern and western techniques is useful for providing an exceptional treatment.

Although it is not a necessary requirement to deliver a therapeutic session, it can be interesting to think about how different philosophies can overlap and support each other.

Myotherapy treatment that takes knowledge of the Jing Jin lines is intended to relieve pain, restore function, improve range of motion, and support recovery.

Jing Jin can be applied with manual techniques or with needling techniques, or both.
